The pandemic hit us the beginning of this year, 2020, and I honestly had no idea it was going to last this long… but, here we are! It is Friday, December 18th and mine and Paul’s jobs are both back to full-remote. He has been full-remote since before even I was (so, mid March) and I have switched back and forth from teaching half the students some days to now being back at home teaching all students virtually. Anyways, it is reasonable to say that we have found ways to keep ourselves entertained.
This post is meant to give you some date night ideas during quarantine that we have loved, and think you will too! Make sure to follow us on Instagram to check out our stories with exciting date night fun! 🙂
1. Movie Night
One of the simplest things a couple can do for a date night activity is watch a movie at home! It could be a Christmas movie (we love Home Alone!), comedy, documentary, action, or good ol’ family film (we also watch Disney movies on the reg – don’t judge!). Make sure to grab a blanket, some hot chocolate, and cuddle up close for a great night at home together. The best part is, you don’t even have to change out of pajamas!
2. Bake Cookies
You guys knew I was going to include this, right? (lol)… I certainly hope so! Baking cookies is a great thing to do because, I mean, what is better than rewarding yourself with fresh, baked cookies?! Absolutely nothing.
Check out the recipe for chocolate chip cookies or sugar cookies and let us know what you think!
3. Decorate a Gingerbread House
As mentioned previously, it is currently December and a great date night idea during quarantine is to decorate a gingerbread house. This is a famous tradition that originated from Germany and many families in America also do this at home. You can have fun as a couple by working together to put the house together and then deciding who is decorating what. Also, it makes for a great decoration for a few days. 🙂
4. Play a Board Game
Paul and I LOVE to play board games. We even have game night at friend’s houses on occasion. Playing board games requires critical thinking and helps us practice patience. Some of our favorites include Monopoly, Sequence, Chess, Life, and Clue. We also enjoy playing cards and other family-friendly games.
5. Cook a Meal
You have to eat dinner and so why not put some fun into it by making it a date night activity. Cook a meal with your partner and challenge yourselves to make something you’ve never made before. One of our favorite date night home-cooked meals include anything with fish or anything that can be quickly grilled. No matter what your experience level in the kitchen is, remember that being together is the most important part and, as Chip Gaines says, “There’s always pizza.”
6. Wine and Paint
I will be the first to admit that I am NOT the world’s greatest artist; however, painting has always given me a sense of relaxation. One time when I was on Christmas break during college I binge watched all of the Bob Ross painting episodes… literally allll of them.
This date night idea for couples consists of a canvas, paintbrush, paint, and a glass of red cabernet. (or whatever wine you prefer!). Make sure to put on some episodes of Bob Ross if you need inspiration
7. Do Yoga
After a year like 2020 I think that yoga is perfect for everyone, especially couples looking for free, at-home date night activities. Yoga is good for the soul and there is never a bad time to begin. There are tons of videos/resources on the internet that you can use for FREE. Yoga is good for your health as it improves strength, flexibility, and balance. It also helps your heart, keeps you energized, and helps you manage stress.
We hope you and your loved one find something to do together. And remember, just have FUN! 🙂
